By your life! They were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, And the people of the town came rejoicing. And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. He said: Surely you are an unknown people. So when the messengers came to Lut's followers, Except his wife We ordained that she shall surely be of those who remain behind. Except Lut's followers: We will most surely deliver them all, Marked (for punishment) with your Lord and it is not far off from the unjust. So when Our decree came to pass, We turned them upside down and rained down upon them stones, of what had been decreed, one after another. They said: O Lut! we are the messengers of your Lord they shall by no means reach you so remove your followers in a part of the night, and let none of you turn back, except your wife, for surely whatsoever befalls them shall befall her surely their appointed time is the morning is not the morning nigh? He said: Ah! That I had power to suppress you, rather I shall have recourse to a strong support. They said: Certainly you know that we have no claim on your daughters, and most surely you know what we desire. He said: O my people! These are my daughters, they are purer for you, so guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not disgrace me with regard to my guests is there not among you one right minded man? And his people came to him, (as if) rushed on towards him, and already they did evil deeds. And when Our messengers came to Lut, he was grieved for them, and he lacked strength to protect them, and said: This is a hard day. O Ibrahim! Leave off this, surely the decree of your Lord has come to pass, and surely there must come to them a chastisement that cannot be averted. So when fear had gone away from Ibrahim and good news came to him (through angels), he began to plead with Us for Lut's people. And We rained upon them a rain consider then what was the end of the guilty. So We delivered him and his followers, except his wife she was of those who remained behind. And the answer of his people was no other than that they said: Turn them out of your town, surely they are a people who seek to purify (themselves). Most surely you come to males in lust besides females nay you are an extravagant people. “ So we saved him and his family, all except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. And (We sent) Lut when he said to his people: What! Do you commit an indecency which anyone in the world has not done before you? My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do. Go you in unto the males of the Alamin (mankind), and leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!” They said: “If you cease not, O Lot! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!” HE said: “I am indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). No reward do I ask of you for it (my message of Islamic monotheism) my reward is only from the Lord of the Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists). So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. Allah revealed the story of the people of Lut (عليه السلام) in the Quran in Surah Ash-Shu’ara: “The people of Lot (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers when their brother Lot said to them: ‘Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. These people indulged in homosexuality, many were criminals and caused corruption in the land. Lut (عليه السلام) was sent to the people of Sadoom (Sodom) to call them towards Allah (ﷻ).Lut (عليه السلام) is mentioned by name 17 times in the Quran he was the paternal nephew of Ebrahim (عليه السلام).This building houses the maqam/shrine of Prophet Lut (عليه السلام) and is situated in the town of Bani Na’im near the Dead Sea.
